About Us

Ishmael Atterh is a multi-disciplinary creative specialising in film photography (social documentary, editorial and portrait), creative direction and poetry.

With a particular focus on raw storytelling through his literary pseudonym ‘Z.A. Fontaine’ alongside the eye for detail in his film photography, Ishmael pushes a new narrative throughout the range of his work.

As someone born and bred in the heart of South London, Ishmael found that it is easy for talent to be overlooked, so the foundation of The Fontaine Theory surrounds the desire for his expression, particularly in literary and visual arts. As someone who champions the recognition of those stemming from the ‘underclass’ and forgotten places in society, The Fontaine Theory aims to share the voices from these backgrounds. Whether it is from the blocks in South London to the Highrise buildings in central, the platform aims to shed light on our reality, our truths and most importantly the extent of our God-given talent. Despite how uncomfortable it may make the masses feel.

Ishmael and Z.A. Fontaine’s work has featured in:

  • ‘My Barbican’ photography competition curated by the Barbican Centre
  • The Floor Magazine’s poetry library
  • ‘Coronaverses’ A literary arts and short fiction platform
  • Unrestricted LDN’s ‘Respect Me’ zine.
